This website was originally created to support the book: Mac OS X Leopard Beyond the Manual. This book was written to introduce people to this latest version of Apple’s operating system, Mac OS X 10.5: Leopard. It’s impossible to cover every aspect of Leopard in a single 700 (or so) page book, so this book was written with some specific goals and assumptions:

  • Make sure that the basics of using Mac OS X are well covered without dwelling on basics of simply using a computer. (assume the reader has prior computer experience with previous version of Mac OS or Microsoft Windows.)
  • Try to point out interesting often overlooked features of Mac OS X in general and Leopard specifically.
  • If a topic can’t be fully covered in the space provided, make sure at the very least the reader walks away with a solid understanding of the topic.
  • Show readers how to customize, administer, and use Leopard in the most effective ways based on their own personal preferences.
  • Teach those inclined to dig deeper into the OS, “where to find the shovel, and how to avoid the power lines.”
  • Most importantly, make sure the readers walk away, not only knowing how to get the most from their computers, but also how to find new solutions to their own goals as needed.

If something you feel is missing, wrong, or unclear, please let me know. While I won’t necessarily be able to reply quickly to each email I get, I will attempt to use the blog here to add any additional tips and information that may not have made it in the book.
